Afghanistan
Intelligence Base Attack
A Taliban attack at an intelligence base in the central Wardak province of Afghanistan reportedly left over 100 security forces killed.  The total number of deaths is unclear, as officials from both Taliban and Afghanistan security forces are reporting different numbers. Taliban forces drove into the National Directorate of Security (NDS) training facility before detonating a suicide bomb, followed by at least three armed Taliban fighters who entered the facility and attacked on foot.  The attack came just hours after Taliban officials held peace talks with U.S. officials in Qatar to discuss the withdrawal of foreign troops.

Death Toll Rises from Gasoline Pipeline Explosion
On Friday evening, at least 91 people were killed and scores more injured in a gasoline pipeline explosion in Tlahuelilpan, Mexico – roughly 80 miles north of Mexico City. The resulting fire from the explosion in central Mexico has been extinguished and rescue teams are working to retrieve bodies. People gathered around the ruptured pipeline to collect gas amidst a shortage in the country. Officials say they believe static electricity from the clothing of people around the pipeline may have caused the explosion.

Undisclosed Missile Site
A report has identified Sino-ri, as another undisclosed North Korean ballistic missile base, located around 160 miles northwest of Seoul. According to the report, Sino-ri provides “an operational-level nuclear or conventional first strike capability.” The site is one of Pyongyang’s 20 undeclared missile operating bases. This report comes just days after an announcement on Friday that President Trump will meet with Kim Jong Un to discuss denuclearization late next month.
