Diplomats Sent Back to U.S.
At least two or more diplomats have been sent back to the U.S. from the American consulate in Guangzhou, China after health screenings showed the individuals had been affected by mysterious health problems. The unusual affliction, which has symptoms similar to those of a concussion or minor traumatic brain injury, is consistent with that which was reported by U.S. diplomats in Cuba in 2016, which in turn raised suspicions that resulted in the expulsion of Cuban diplomats from the United States. This map depicts the location of the consulate in Guangzhou, China. California Primary
California’s unique primary system allows for the top two winners to advance to the November midterm elections regardless of party affiliation. Gavin Newsom (D) and John Cox (R), winners of the gubernatorial primary elections, will advance to the general election in November. Democrats are targeting seven Republican-held California House seats that Hillary Clinton won in the 2016 election that would fill a significant portion of the 23 seats they need to win back the House; Districts 39 and 48 will likely be a close call. Lava Fills Lake
As Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano enters its 35th day of eruption, lava continues to spread on the Big Island – in some areas it has created an extra mile of land off Hawaii’s Eastern Rift Zone. Yesterday, the lava completely filled Hawaii’s largest freshwater lake, Green Lake. The Hawaii County Fire Department confirmed that all the water from the lake, which once reached 200 feet deep, had evaporated; Kapoho Bay is also being evaporated by lava. Nearly 500 homes have been destroyed. This map depicts the flow of lava from Kilauea volcano including the spread into Kapoho Bay. Click on the map to learn more.
