China
Military Testing
China’s People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) announced that it successfully landed bombers on an unidentified island in the South China Sea, including the nuclear-capable H-K6 bomber. This move is the latest in a series of military actions by Beijing that have caused tension among neighboring countries. The South China Sea is a highly contested area in the world as many of the surrounding countries lay claim to the sea. China claims it is conducting standard military training. This map depicts the territorial claims of countries surrounding the South China Sea.
