Colombia
Cocaine Bust
On Wednesday, Colombia claimed to have made the largest drug bust in its history, after seizing over 12 tons of cocaine with a value of $360 million US dollars. Officials stated the drugs were found buried in four banana plantations in the Uraba region in the northeastern department of Antioquian. Security forces also seized 20 tons of cocaine in Antioquia within the last two months.

Syria
Syrian Victory
The Syrian army has declared victory over the Islamic State on Thursday, saying it has “fully liberated” the eastern border town Albu Kamal, the Islamic State’s last urban stronghold in the country. Commanders reported that the victory signified the “fall of the terrorist Daesh [IS] organisation’s project in the region.” The Islamic State now only controls a few villages desert areas north of Albu Kamal and scattered pieces of land elsewhere in Syria.

Europe
No Agreement
The European Union has failed to come to an agreement on the continued use of the popular weed killer glyphosate amid concerns about its possible links to cancer.
