Several Killed in Bridge Train Accident
Today, a train accident on the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark killed 6 people and injured 16 more; the accident is the worst Denmark has seen in over 30 years. The crowded passenger train was departing from the city of Odense – on the central Danish Island of Funen, and was on its way the capital of Copenhagen. It hit falling cargo from a freight train passing in the opposite directions, as it crossed the road-and-rall bridge that links the country’s islands of Zealand and Funen. The police are still investigating how the incident happened, but said it occurred during high winds – which are still making rescue efforts difficult.

Sears to Close 80 Stores in March
Sears Holdings announced it will be closing 80 more Sears and Kmart stores in late March 2019. In October and November of 2018, the retail store had announced the closing of roughly another 180 Sears and Kmarts by year-end. The now-bankrupt retailer received a last-minute bid from the Chairman, Eddie Lampert, who plans to keep 425 stores open (down from 500 stores he proposed earlier) and offer jobs to up to 50,000 employees, in an effort to keep the company from liquidating more assets.

Russia
Apartment Collapse
On Monday, a gas explosion caused a large section of a 10-story, Soviet-era building to collapse in the Russian city of Magnitogorsk – around 1,050 miles (1,700 km) southeast of Moscow. The death toll has now risen to 21, as crews search for another 20 people who live in the building and are unaccounted for. After two nights in which temperatures dipped below -4°F (-20°C) the prospects of finding them alive are slim.
