Afghanistan
Blast in Green Zone
Officials reported that on Tuesday, a suicide bomber detonated explosives in the diplomatic area of Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, killing at least five people and wounding 20 others. This is the first attack targeting the Afghan capital’s high security area or “Green Zone” since the May 31 massive truck bomb that killed more than 150 people and left hundreds wounded. The Islamic State group is claiming responsibility for the attack. This map shows the “Green Zone” in Kabul. Click on the map to expand.

Gaza Strip
Tunnel Case
Reports are emerging that at least seven Palestinians were killed after Israeli forces detonated a tunnel that ran from Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, into the Israeli town of Kissufim. The tunnel collapse came just days before Hamas is expected to hand control of Gaza’s borders to the Palestinian Authority in a reconciliation agreement between Hamas and Fatah (the party of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas). Although Hamas has not claimed the tunnel as their own, they released a statement accusing Israel of trying to undermine the agreement. This map depicts Gaza tunnels found.
