Successful Missile Defense
A US Warship successfully shot down a medium-range ballistic missile in a test that was conducted off the coast of Hawaii. According to the US Missile Defense Agency, the USS John Paul Jones was able to detect and track the missile before intercepting it with its own SM-6 missiles. This successful interception comes after a failed test from the same missile destroyer in June. In light of tension caused by missile activity from North Korea, US authorities have ramped up the progression of anti-air defense systems. This map shows the locations of the Pacific Missile Range Facility on the island of Kauai in Hawaii.
