TSA Monitoring
The Boston Globe first revealed Sunday that, since 2010, the TSA has been monitoring American passengers on planes who “are not under investigation by any agency and are not in the Terrorist Screening Data Base.” The program, dubbed “Quiet Skies,” enlists an air marshal to report on and monitor the activities of a given person on a flight, making notes of specific details and behaviors such as how many hours they sleep, if they have a “strong body odor,” how fast they blink, and how alert to their surroundings they are. The program has reportedly targeted about 35 passengers a day. TSA has declined to comment on the effectiveness of this program.
