Iran
Nuclear Deal Falling Apart
President Hassan Rouhani of Iran has ordered research on nuclear weaponry to continue in the country, breaking its commitments to the 2015 nuclear agreement made with the United States and other nations. According to a letter released by Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the agreement has been abandoned after sanctions from the Trump Administration were unsuccessfully compensated by the European Union. The President’s announcement gives the E.U. a new 60-day deadline to revive the agreement, requiring that the Trump Administration does not block the E.U.’s motions.

Funding Diverted to Finance Trump’s Border Wall
The Pentagon will reapportion $3.6 billion from 127 military construction projects to construct 175 miles of barrier along the southern border.  This funding is an addition to the $1.4 billion in spending authorized by Congress in February, as well as $2.5 billion diverted from the Defense Department counter-drug programs. The White House hopes to eventually raise over $8 billion to finance the wall’s construction.

Moon Landing Hours Away
India hopes to become the fourth country to successfully land on the surface of the moon. The Chandrayaan-2, an unmanned spacecraft which launched on July 22, is set to touch down on the south polar region of the moon later today. The proposed landing spot of Chandrayaan-2 is the furthest south ever attempted. The expedition aims to study potential water ice in lunar soil at the south pole. The landing is set to take place around 4 to 5 pm EST.
