Iran
Satellite Launch
Iran has successfully launched a satellite, according to state media. The 250 kg satellite was launched from the Iman Khomeini Space Center, east of the capital of Tehran, and is capable of attaining orbit. This launch comes two days after the imposition of new sanctions on Iran by the U.S., and many see this as a direct response. While the U.S. has condemned the launch, saying it violates the 2015 Nuclear Agreement, Iran has stated that the satellite has no connection to any nuclear program. This map shows the location of the space center within Iran Click on the map to expand.

A Game of Chicken
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lu Kang made a statement directed at the UK saying “certain outside countries are determined to stir up trouble in this region.” He continued, “Whatever banners these countries or officials claim to uphold, their track-record of bringing chaos and humanitarian disasters through their so-called moral interventions is enough to make nations and people maintain high vigilance.” His remarks come after UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson made a statement that the UK would likely be sending colossal aircraft carriers to the South China Sea to “vindicate [their] belief in the rules-based international system and in the freedom of navigation through those waterways which are absolutely vital for world trade.”This is a map of the maritime territorial claim by China.
