Mexico
Earthquake in Mexico
Mexico is no stranger to earthquakes, as it is situated where two tectonic plates collide. On Thursday, an earthquake hit which was more powerful than the 1985 one that killed nearly 10,000 people. The Thursday quake, although strong, is not expected to cause as many fatalities as it struck 450 miles from the capital, compared to the 1985 one which struck much closer to the city. At this time, officials report that “The tally of damage- and death- will probably be difficult to assess initially…”This map depicts where the earthquake occurred. Click on the map to learn more about the story.
