Earthquake and Flash Floods
On Sunday, an earthquake struck Indonesia triggering a landslide near a popular waterfall in tourist-heavy Lombok, killing at least 3 people and damaging homes. Since Saturday, the country is also experiencing torrential rains which have been triggering landslides and flash flooding near Jayapura in the easternmost Papua province, forcing thousands to flee their homes and trapping many others. So far, 70 people are confirmed dead, 50 injured and many more missing with rescue efforts hindered by blocked roads and debris.
