North Korea
Test Missiles Fired
In a report by South Korean military officials, North Korea has launched two unidentified projectile missiles toward the Sea of Japan today. The missiles are reportedly short-range ballistic missiles and were fired two days after North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, supervised artillery and military drills testing the readiness of some of his units.  This is North Korea’s first missile test of 2020- just one year after President Trump and Kim Jong Un’s Hannoi Summit. South Korea and the United States have cancelled their regularly scheduled military drills that take place this time of year amid coronavirus concerns.

Trader Joe’s Founder Dies at 89
Joe Coulombe, the founder of Trader Joe’s, passed away on Friday at the age of 89. After opening his first store in Pasadena, California in 1967, his popular retail chain has expanded to nearly 500 stores across 42 states. In the beginning, Coulombe opened locations near education hubs to cater to a new generation of grocery shoppers: college-educated and underpaid persons who want to enjoy high-quality food at a low price. Buying directly from the sellers and distributing private-label food products (including their own Trader Joe’s brand), Coulombe was able to meet this consumer niche. He retired from the company in 1988 after he sold it to the German company, Aldi Nord, but his reputation remains close to the popular supermarket chain.

Guard Releases Hostages
A former security guard released over 30 people after holding them hostage for a day in a mall outside of Manila, Philippines. Archie Paray, the security guard in question, was let go after abandoning his position without alerting management, stating that the company he worked for was rife with corruption. Paray shot one person and took at least 30 hostages, most of whom were fellow employees. Paray was arrested and taken into custody following a short conference in which Paray was allowed to air his grievances. The individual shot by Paray is in stable condition and all hostages are reported to be fine.
