Ankara Train Crash
A high-speed passenger train collided head-on with a locomotive Thursday morning at a station in Ankara, Turkey. The crash, killing 9 and injuring dozens, caused the two colliding carriages to derail and be pushed into the supports for an overpass walkway at Marsandiz station, causing the walkway to collapse onto the trains. The train carrying 206 passengers was not supposed to be operating due to the lack of an automated signal system according to the Ankara Railroad Employees’ Union.
