Ethnic Cleansing

Following weeks of violent tensions between the Myanmar military and Rohingya people in the Rhakine State of Myanmar, UN Human Rights official, Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein, has cited the ongoing actions against the Rohingya people as “a textbook example of ethnic cleansing.”  In an effort to drive out the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army militant group in the Rhakine State, the Myanmar military has fired into, and set fire to, villages throughout the area.
