Kenya
Courts Offer Reasoning
The Kenyan Supreme Court released a statement that the decision to nullify last month’s election of President Uhuru Kenyatta was due to the refusal of the electoral commission in giving the court access to the digital voting records. As a result, the Supreme Court had “no choice but to accept the petitioner’s claims that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s IT system was infiltrated and compromised.” The ruling marked the first time an African court had annulled the re-election of a sitting leader. This map shows the location of the Kenyan Supreme Court. Click on the map to expand.
