Most Prolific Serial Killer
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Sunday named Samuel Little – a 79-year-old man, as the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history. The septuagenarian confessed to strangling 93 victims during a 35-year span between 1970 and 2005. The FBI officials were able to verify 50 of those confessions, with the agency believing all 93 confessions as being credible. They added that they are working with investigators across the country to piece together the information he provided with unidentified remains and unsolved cases from decades past. Little was convicted in 2014 and sentenced to three life sentences for three murders between 1987 and 1989. Investigators have requested that anyone with information contact the bureau at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Planned Power Outage
California utility company, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) announced yesterday plans to suspend power in nearly 30 counties across Northern and Central California. The planned power outage would affect nearly 2 million people and 67 schools. The outage is a response to dry and windy weather predicted for the rest of the week, factors known to create prime conditions for wild fires. Earlier this year, PG&E was held responsible for starting the 2018 California Camp Fire, the state’s deadliest and most destructive fire, after it was discovered one of its power lines fell and ignited fire over dry vegetation.

‘Zombie’ Deer
Those participating in the hunting season are being alerted of states in which Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is currently distributed. CWD is a neurological disorder that deteriorates the brain of the afflicted animal. This disease affects elk, deer, reindeer and moose. Symptoms of the disease include lack of fear of humans, stumbling and emaciation, all of which culminate in the animal’s eventual death. Due to the behaviors exhibited by infected animals, the disease is said to leave them in a ‘zombie-like’ state. Currently, CWD has been found across 24 states. In Nevada, wildlife officials are setting up truck barriers and sampling deer carcasses to prevent the highly contagious disease from spreading further. While there are no reported cases of chronic wasting afflicting humans to date, officials are warning hunters to be careful when hunting.
