Moving Ahead with Tariffs
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced his plans to move forward with the proposed tariff on Mexican imports despite growing bipartisan opposition from the Senate. Trump hopes the 5% tariff would drive the Mexican government to do more to stem the flow of migrants into the United States. However, senators expressed concern over the increased costs for U.S. businesses and consumers. Additionally, the tariff could threaten a three-way trade pact between Mexico, the United States and Canada. Though nearly all states take part in trade with Mexico, economists express those which import the most Mexican goods would be hit hardest by the proposed measure.

75th D-Day Anniversary
British royalty and other world leaders, including President Donald Trump, gathered today in Portsmouth, England to celebrate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. On June 6, 1944, British, Canadian, and American troops landed in Normandy, France and began an operation to liberate Western Europe from Hitler’s control. To commemorate the anniversary, several 20th-century aircraft will participate in a flypast from England to France. President Trump read a prayer originally written by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on the evening of the Normandy landings, and Queen Elizabeth II shared that the world’s fate had depended on this operation.
