Historic Landing on “Dark Side” of the Moon
China says it has successfully landed an un-crewed probe, Chang’e-4, on the far side of the Moon. This is the first time any craft has landed successfully on the far side of the moon. State media said the robotic spacecraft launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in China and touched down in a lunar orbit in the South Pole-Aitken Basin. Within the Basin, the Chang’e-4 is aiming to explore the Von Kármán crater, considered to be one of the largest impact craters in the Solar System and oldest basin on the Moon.

United Kingdom
Two Arrested Over Migrant Crossings
An Iranian national and a British man were arrested yesterday on suspicion of coordinating the “illegal movement of migrants” across the English Channel in December. The arrests come after Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, declared a “major incident” over the increasing numbers of people attempting to “illegally” enter the UK by boat. Since November, 239 people have reached the UK via boat, including 12 migrants found off the coast of Kent last week. The UK will redeploy two Border Force patrol boats to the Channel; where and when this will happen has not been disclosed. Between 2017 and 2018 an estimated 1,832 people entered the UK “clandestinely” via sea vessels.
