Shooting Spree
In Bakersfield, California, a gunman killed 5 people including his wife before turning the gun on himself. The couple drove together to a trucking business where he shot the wife and two other men. He then drove to another residence and shot two more people. The gunman proceeded to carjack a vehicle with a woman and child inside, who both managed to escape. After being confronted by a deputy, the gunman fatally shot himself. Officials are investigating the cause for this shooting spree; the events do not appear to be random.

South Africa
Oldest Drawing Ever Found
According to multiple scientists, the discovery of a 73,000-year-old drawing in the Blombos Cave in South Africa is likely to be considered the oldest drawing ever found. The drawing depicts crisscrossed lines and is at least 30,000 years older than any other known creations. A flake of ocher was used to make the engraving and was found on a small rock surface 1.5 inches long and about half an inch tall. Earlier findings show the line pattern was widely used by the ancient inhabitants of the Blombos Cave. Although the meaning of the drawing is debated among scholars, they agree that the finding, at the very least, expands our knowledge about the expressive capabilities of early homo sapiens in Africa.
