Aerial Attack
Venezuelan police officer Oscar Pérez launched an attack on the Venezuelan Supreme Court earlier this morning. Piloting a commandeered police helicopter, Pérez launched a total of four grenades and fired 15 shots at the building. In an official statement, Pérez stated that this was done to fight “against the tyranny” of President Nicolás Maduro´s government. Global
Cyber Attack
A quickly spreading ransomware attack called Petya is hitting countries all over the world. The attack mainly hit Eastern Europe but also targeted companies in Spain, Denmark, Norway, Britain, India and the U.S.  According to cyber security researchers, 60% of the attack is concentrated in Ukraine and 30% in Russia. The hacks targeted government ministries, banks, utilities, infrastructure and other nationwide companies, demanding ransoms in the “cryptocurrency” Bitcoin. This cyber attack comes only two months after a similar attack known as WannaCry.

United States
Mishap in the Metro
At least 30 people were injured after a train derailed near the 125th Street station in New York City. According to the MTA, the derailment occurred due to an unsecured piece of track that was mistakenly left unbolted after an earlier track repair. When asked about the safety system, the newly named chairman of the MTA, Joseph Lhota, said that he wished to “rebuild the confidence” in the agency.
