Border Closings
Venezuela’s Interim President, Nicolas Maduro, has ordered the closure of Venezuela’s border with Brazil “until further notice” amid a tense standoff with the US-backed opposition leader, Juan Guaido, over allowing in humanitarian aid. As the Venezuelan-Brazilian border remains closed indefinitely,  Maduro has also threatened to close the border with Colombia.  Additionally, Maduro has closed air and maritime borders with Curucao, Aruba and Bonaire.

India
Water War?
After a militant attack by Pakistan-based group in Kashmir last week,  the Indian government is considering retaliating by cutting off water supply to Pakistan.  India’s Transport and Water Resources Minister announced Thursday India would divert water that once flowed into Pakistan into Jammur and Kashmir to their own citizens.  Under the 1960 Indus Water Treaty between India and Pakistan, waters of the western rivers, Jhelum, Chenab and Indus rivers, were shared with Pakistan and eastern rivers- Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers- were given to India.  Indian officials say their move to cut off water supply from Pakistan would not violate the treaty.
