FireWhat: Delivering emergency services information & training with GIS & Technology

fire

FireWhat, Inc. is a Geographic Information Systems and Technology Company that maps emergency incidents and creates technologies to track responders in and out of the field. The company provides custom tools to map and track assets in response to natural disasters.

The company was founded in 2011 to correct the outdated delivery of information to first responders. Shortly after, in April of 2013, the company purchased Wildlandfire.com, which provides direct access to the largest data base of real time fire information from a sourced audience of 1.2 million annual visitors- mainly wildland fighters. Since its creation in 1997, the website has built a following as the most trusted source of wildlife information in the nation. Also in April of 2013, FireWhat, Inc. became a Startup Partner of Esri, and began revamping Wildlandfire.com with a full integration of Esri’ ArcGIS Online Platform. This has provided key successes in the wildfire community.

FireWhat’s data feed supplies the mechanism for organizations to access, retrieve, integrate, and use fire information to enhance business intelligence, protect assets and improve safety; delivers essential fire information as soon as a fire is reported; and provides detailed incident information. The company uses their own data for the Wildland Fire Map Application- the first of many ESRI suite apps, which offers up-to-date information from their data feed. The company is adding three GIS Mobile Mapping Labs to its collection of GIS tools and to bring four total units on board for the 2016 Fire Season. The GIS Mobile Labs were designed to introduce the “Next Generation of Emergency Incident Mapping,” through the integration of traditional paper-based mapping and ArcGIS Online (WebGIS). The aim of these products is to answer the needs of the industry through the improved delivery of emergency services information and training.
