One new app feature allows one to share pins with team members, track their location, view live updates of employees in the field, and more. The application geo-references customers within 300 miles, set reminders, pins customers, share pins with peers, get notifications, geo-fencing, import/export data to Excel, make phone calls and get directions to pinned accounts.

Map My Customers is used by more than 500 different companies. The application has become a great success, because of it’s easy-to-use interface, accurate geo-reference technology, and automated synchronization between iPhone, iPad, and Computer. Map My Customers is a perfect example of how geo-referencing techniques can lead to marketing success of consumer-oriented companies.

AGS spoke with the founder of Map My Customers, Matt, who cited his inspiration as “I got started building this as a favor for my father who is a traveling salesman in the flooring industry. He wanted it to take his excel customer sheet and display pins on a map. From there, we’ve built in tons of features that enable salesman to be more productive.” His vision for the future is very promising. “In the future, we hope to build an all-in-one simple GIS for business customers and consumers. This will entail features like heat-maps (“hot spots”) and spatial buffering for metrics like venture capitalist funding, company revenue, number of potential customers in a region, etc. Imagine being able to see a map where hot spots of customers appear!”
