Sustainable Works is an environmental education organization and is currently a project of Community Partners. Their work is made possible by the City of Santa Monica’s Sustainable City Plan, their program participants, grants, individual donors, and in-kind service donations from Santa Monica College. Although their programs are designed for Santa Monica residents and businesses, their participants come from all across the greater Los Angeles Area. Sustainable Works is interested in expanding its programs into other cities with a focus on sustainability, resource efficiency or community development.
Sustainable Works exists to ensure that the concepts of sustainability and the actions associated with living a sustainable lifestyle are integrated into the daily activities of individuals, institutions and businesses. This gets done as they provide hands-on, interactive, educational experiences, serving as a liaison between governments, institutions, businesses and individuals and fostering community development. They turn knowledge into tangible actions that improve the quality of life by promoting sustainable practices in our urban environments. Their overall goal is to ensure a just society, a clean and healthy environment and a vibrant economy for present and future generations.
