Recyclebank: Inspiring individual actions to make big, positive impacts for the planet

Capture
Recyclebank began in 2004 as a recycling rewards program in Philadelphia, to not only encourage residents to do good things for the planet, but to reward them each and every time a participating member took a step in the right direction. Founded by Patrick Fitzgerald and Ron Gonen, the company has boosted recycling rates in more than 300 communities, has grown to over 4 million members, has helped launch new programs in communities across the United States and has inspired our members to spare billions of pounds of waste from the landfill.

Recyclebank’s goal is to inspire smarter smarter, everyday choices for a more sustainable future with the belief that individual actions, such as increasing recycling or learning about greener ways to purchase, consume or dispose of products, adds up to make a big and positive impact for our planet. As a member of Recyclebank, whether you are an individual, business or community, you earn points for taking small, progressive actions and for recycling, that can be used for rewards. These may include exclusive savings for everyday products in their online shop, national and community deals at local or national restaurants, businesses and services, and school donations to help students improve their schools through eco-friendly projects.

By encouraging small everyday actions by teaching how they can benefit the environment and then rewarding you for making the effort, Recyclebank deepens people’s participation and creates habitual behavior change. This idea of a mixing economic and social nudges with education is aimed towards more sustainable living practices that will benefits communities and our environment.
